Podology is a field connected to medical professions such as dermatologists, orthopedics and diabetologists that deals with ailments or even serious problems with feet. Nail technicians offer treatments to people's soles and toenails, as well as fingernails. Using their artistic skill and expertise they polish and decorate nails or even create false nails.
RegistrationGraduates of secondary education schools, such as Vocational high schools, Technical high schools, General high schools and Multidisciplinary high schools, are allowed to enroll, according to m.d. 5954.
On completion of their training, graduates receive a Vocational Training Certificate. On the condition that they pass the examination organised by EOPPEP, they receive a level-5 Certificate in Vocational Training in their field.
Duration of studies
IEK studies include 5 terms (semesters). Four of these terms, that is 1,200 hours, are theoretical and laboratory classes, whereas in the 5th term students become interns and apprentices for 960 hours (Training Practice).
Podology and nail technicians can be employed in orthopedic clinics, businesses that sell orthopedic shoes, in spas and nail salons. They take care of people's hygiene and health by helping them keep their skin and nails in good condition. They offer therapeutic services using approved tools and materials so that their clients' health is protected. At the same time they beautify their clients' nails.
